AND it struck me that not many people are truly comfortable with saying NO
to sh!t they hate in their business.
This concerns me because when I work with people they come to me to level up.
Both in their business and in their life.
Levelling up is staying in their circle of genius and saying HELL NO to everything else.
After you’ve built your business, it’s giving you a decent pay packet, you have some cash for expanding…
You then need to get the hell outta doing sh!t you hate.
✨The stuff that drains your ENERGY.
✨The stuff that OTHER PEOPLE are better at.
✨The people who bring you DOWN.
Oh, I’ve been there with all of these.
😣Doing tasks that make you feel HEAVY.
😣Not OUTSOURCING tasks (especially tech).
😣Being around the WRONG people.
(BTW, that emoji is called “persevering face”)
That last one… ooooph!!
Wrong people, wrong clients, wrong coaches.
BUT how do you know what to say HELL NO to and HOW to enforce that daily?
Here’s a quick rundown of

- Your strengths are your personal USP.
- They dictate what you SHOULD be working on.
- They tell you what you SHOULDN’T be working on.

The objective of this exercise is to create a list of your three strengths that sit inside your circle of genius.
Anything that IS NOT inside your circle of genius MUST be removed from your business as soon as financially possible.
This is a strict rule I enforce on my clients because they are the PRIZE in their business.
Now, you may be thinking “I can’t afford to (don’t know how to) outsource”.
And that could be the case, however,
1. Outsourcing doesn’t cost that much.
2. There are other ways to work with people who are talented in the areas you require outsourcing.
(That’s for another post, another time.)
FIND YOUR STRENGTHS
1. Get a piece of paper.
2. Write down all the tasks in your business.
3. Notice how you feel about each of them.
4. Grade them using this…
😣You hate them and they take ages to do
😕Meh, they’re ok
🤩I could do this all day!
Done that? Ok…
Take the ones that are 🤩and see if there is a common thread.
Eg. I LOVE communicating.
It’s my strength.
So the things I love in my business are writing, video, one-to-one chats.
The objective is to get to three distinct strengths that are your circle of genius.
Eg. Lady Gaga
Her strengths are singing, acting and writing songs.
She doesn’t do set design, booking tours or write books.
It’s EASY TO SEE the strengths in others so the next task is
ASKING OTHERS to tell you what your strengths are.
You’ve been in business for a while so there are defo people out there
who will know you for something.
That something is your circle of genius.
NOW… take out a Post-it note and WRITE DOWN your THREE STRENGTHS.
Why a Post-it note?
Because the tiny amount of space will force you to be succinct.
PUT the Post-it note where you can see it.
REFER back to it every day.
“IS THIS TASK IN MY CIRCLE OF GENIUS?”
🤩Do it MORE
😕Do it LESS
😣GET RID OF IT!
Tune into how you feel about your tasks.
This is a continual process and not a ONE TIME exercise.
Plus, you may not be able to eliminate some tasks in your business straight away.
And that’s ok.
Businesses are never finished and neither are you.
One of the greatest things about the modern-day is that we have
access to people all over the world, tools and automation, more role models
This gives us the opportunity to STOP DOING SH!T WE HATE.
But know this, we can only do this if we truly know our strengths.
By playing in our circle of genius,
we’re accelerating our business growth,
we’re serving our clients and customers better,
we’re tapping into our creative downloads that
ultimately push the whole world forward.
Oh… and before we end it there…
THE POWER OF THREE
(Ready to get a bit Woo?)
In the laws of nature and The Universe, there is a principle of polarity.
We swing from one extreme to the other.
Too often, when we have two extremes, we go far too much into that space.
By having only two strengths, we are in danger of becoming very two dimensional.
By adding a third, we become more well rounded with more depth.
We can rotate between our three strengths.
When we get tired of one, we can rotate to one of the other two.
This gives us a CHOICE!
You see… we’re not boxing ourselves into being two dimensional.
We’re adding a choice which is so DAMN IMPORTANT to Entrepreneurs.
(Yeah, I know you!)
After doing this exercise and understanding WHY we have THREE strengths will now give you
a ROCK SOLID GROUNDING to work from.
BE SUPER STRICT about your CIRCLE OF GENIUS.
